Marshall Burnette

Marshall grew up on the corner of Tennessee and North Carolina. His strong connection with the Appalachian culture can be seen in his visual work. In his teenage years, Marshall spent most of his time playing guitar in punk and heavy metal bands. This interest in counter-culture turned Marshall onto the independent filmmaking world. Films like Requiem For A Dream, Se7en, and Magnolia inspired Marshall to pursue the craft.

After graduating from Vancouver Film School, Marshall moved to Nashville, TN to build a career in narrative and commercial filmmaking. In 2013, Marshall wrote and directed a dramatic short film called, “Devil’s Damned To Try”. The film was screened at multiple international film festivals as well as being featured on ShortOfTheWeek.com. The films success sparked the interest of national commercial productions companies. Since then, Marshall has directed commercial campaigns for companies like Chevrolet, Delta Dental, Tarter Farm and Ranch, and Nutrena Feeds. With a focus on “bluecollar storytelling”, Marshall tells stories that build trust and respect between brands and their customers.

When he’s not writing or directing, you can find Marshall in the backcountry. His hobbies include rock and ice climbing, mountain biking, and flyfishing.
